Ola Jordan’s husband James 'furious' at being banned from joining her on The Jump set

Other partners of stars taking part in the Channel 4 reality winter sports series will be welcome on the set in Austria

Strictly dancer Ola Jordan’s husband James is furious at being banned by TV bosses from joining her on the set of The Jump, reports the Sunday People.

Other partners of stars taking part in the Channel 4 reality winter sports series will be welcome on the set in Austria.

But not James, 36. He is especially angry because he thinks other competitors will be able to take their partners for support.

Royal Zara Phillips may be seen cheering on husband Mike Tindall.

But James, who starred on Celebrity Big Brother in the summer, will play no part in filming.

Last week it was reported 32-year-old Ola, pictured here in her 2015 calendar, will quit Strictly Come Dancing after an eight-year stint.

The Jump will be on C4 next year. One friend of the couple said: “It has all kicked off now James is furious. He is very protective of Ola and wants to make sure she is OK.

“This is a big deal for her. She is confident at dancing but skiing is different.

“She is very good at it but it isn’t something she knows as well as dancing.

“This is so far out of her comfort zone and James likes to be at her side at times like this. Ola hasn’t stepped in and tried to push for James to go – she doesn’t want to upset things.

"She’s really excited to take part in something other than Strictly Come Dancing. Who knows where this will end, James isn’t prepared to let this happen.”

The first series of The Jump, which featured Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave and TV presenter Anthea Turner, was won in February by X Factor champion Joe McElderry, 23.

Ola is one of Strictly’s most popular dancers and won the series in 2009 with TV reporter Chris Hollins. But she nearly didn’t return this year after James rejected an offer to be a backing dancer instead of one of the leading pros.

Ola got ticked off by the BBC for publicly criticising the show after she complained celebrity stars, unlike the dancers, are not confident in skimpy outfits.

She said: “Some people may feel uncomfortable, especially the celebrities. They need to feel comfortable with the short outfits, and if not, the dresses should be longer.

“I mean, it doesn’t matter how long or short your dress is. The only thing that matters is how you dance.” In October the Sunday People revealed she wanted to quit to start a family with James.

A source said: “James has earned a reputation as somewhat outspoken.

“The execs on The Jump just want to get on with the show without any politics.

“Ola is the contestant, not James. So the view is it should be about her, not him.”
