Liverpool is the boob job capital of Britain according to a cosmetic surgery service which arranges thousands of breast enlargements.

More women in Merseyside are going under the knife to get a bigger bust than anywhere else in the country.

Cosmetic surgery service Clinic Compare found 145 women used its services to arrange boob jobs in the first nine months of this year.

This was more than the 131 recorded in Birmingham, 128 in Leeds, 126 in Hampshire and 109 in Glasgow.

The remainder of the top ten was made up of Staffordshire with 108, Leicester 97, Manchester 95, with Cornwall and County Durham tied on 87, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Plastic surgeon Kevin Hancock, who works at the Catharine Medical Centre, the private health clinic inside Liverpool Women’s Hospital, said: “Breast enlargement has always been a hugely popular cosmetic operation.

“There are a large number of commercial clinics in the area and I have many colleagues in private practice doing this procedure.

“The girls who have this operation tend to fall into one of two groups.

“Firstly, there are those who have always been smaller breasted and want to be bigger, then there is a slightly older group of women who have had babies and lost breast volume afterwards.”
