Did Beyonce snub the AMAs? Singer noticeably absent from the musical awards

The 33-year-old megastar still picked up two gongs despite not being present at the show held in Los Angeles

The American Music Awards have come and gone - with Beyonce strangely missing from the line-up.

A who's who of the music industry attended the event held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, with everyone from Taylor Swift to Selena Gomez making an appearance.

But despite being one of the biggest megastars in the world, Queen Bey was noticeably absent from the annual ceremony where she was nominated for three awards.

In the end the singer picked two gongs, for Best Soul/R&B Female Artist and Best Soul/R&B Album, even though she was nowhere to be seen.

Not only that but the mum-of-one got very little fanfare at the event despite her contributions to the music industry this year.

There wasn't even a pre-recorded acceptance speech from the 33-year-old to acknowledge that she'd won in two catergories.

In the past Beyonce has not only been present, but also performed at the ceremony, something she famously did in 2008 while singing Single Ladies.

We have reached out to Beyonce's reps for a comment.

Even without Mrs Carter there viewers were still treated to a whole host of a-listers who took to the red carpet.

There was plenty of girl power on show with pop princess Taylor Swift picking up the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, whereas Katy Perry won Best Pop/Rock Female Artist.

One Direction took home three awards including Artist of the Year - beating the likes of Beyonce and Katy Perry in the process.

Selena Gomez also performed an extremely emotional rendition of her song The Heart Wants What Is Wants.
