Mel Sykes has revealed she only needs a man for sex, insisting she's "self-sufficient" on I'm a Celebrity.

The TV presenter got all fired up arguing with Edwina Currie in the jungle, and hit out at the politician insisting she's independent and doesn't rely on a man.

Mel has remained single since her explosive split from toyboy husband Jack Cockings, and made the shock revelation as she basked in the sun in a tiny pink bikini.

She knows the right time for a bombshell.

"I don't need a man for anything but sex. I'm self-sufficient me, I've been that for 12 years," Mel shot at Edwina.

"I've got all my mates, my family and I don't need a man. It would be nice if he was there, but I don't need them there."

Edwina later commented: "It could be a generational thing. It's just the idea, I find it so bizarre. These beautiful women in their 40s are saying I don't need a man."

When Kendra attempted to explain what Edwina may have meant, Mel mellowed slightly and said she's actually "envious" of her.

"I'm envious that she has the love of her life," Mel added. "It's amazing. But I was only cross because I was being told that I'm not independent."
